From there you’ll go on to battle all sorts of baddies as the Bard attempts to gain riches and woo women. For instance, the first time you slay a wolf, the narrator humorously says, “that can’t be right,” after listing all the loot that the Bard conveniently finds amongst its innards. Much of the game’s hilarity stems from the Bard himself—flawlessly voiced by Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride).
The Bard’s Tale offers up hack-and-slash combat with a fun twist. The Bard can summon creatures to fight alongside him by shredding on his lute. It’s much easier to take on a group of enemies with an electric spider at your side. All in all, The Bard’s Tale is a sweet RPG that will have you laughing from start to finish.

1o. Exiled Kingdoms
We love Exiled Kingdoms. Like other titles on this list, it reps decidedly old-school. Reminiscent of the original Divine Divinity, Exiled Kingdoms is an open world ARPG. While the graphics are dated, 4 Dimension Games has done an exemplary job of creating a living game world in an indie wrapping, with a host biomes to though through as well as a smattering old temples, tombs and caves. Combat is quick and challenging and will require gamers to save frequently. What’s more, the title’s narrative is compelling with even fedex quest coming replete with purpose and momentum. And perhaps most importantly, the title’s sparse IAPs are fair and devoid of skanky monetization tactics. If you’re an old school RPG fan, get it.

Giant Global’s Pascal’s Wager offers an RPG as close to Dark Souls as you’ll get on mobile. In the style of other Lovecraftian games, too much exposure to the marred lowers your sanity. If your sanity gets too low, you’ll enter an altered state called abnormal in which enemies drop better loot but are vastly stronger.
Throughout the game you’ll be able to switch between the two-player characters seamlessly (except when in the midst of combat). Terrance is a gruff older man, with Geralt of Rivia vibes, while Norwood is a mysterious, masked one-armed man, wielding a coffin in lieu of a blade. With engaging, challenging combat, gorgeous graphics and compelling characters, Pascal’s Wager proves a genuine contender when it comes to mobile RPGs.

For example, Alumon can act as a healer or focus on dealing high magic damage. Besides these more typical battles, Battle Chasers: Nightwars offers engaging randomly-generated dungeons full of traps, enemies and treasure.
