Square Enix has announced that classic SNES title Dragon Quest Heroes: Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon is now available for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S, priced at $24.99.
Originally released in 1993 in Japan only, Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon is the first entry in the Mystery Dungeon spinoff series and serves as a prequel to Torneko: The Last Hope, and is a pioneer of the roguelike genre. Set after the events of Dragon Quest IV, the story follows Torneko, who dreams of becoming the greatest weapons merchant in the world, and pursues rumours of a mysterious dungeon to plunder its incredible treasures.
The Mystery Dungeon takes on a new form every time you enter, with players encountering different items and monsters each expedition as a result. Every step Torneko takes represents a turn, and whenever he moves, the creatures in the dungeon move too, making each decision crucial to your survival. You’ll gain experience and level up by defeating enemies, and grow stronger by obtaining equipment and items as you venture deeper into the dungeon in search of treasure.
Dragon Quest Heroes: Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon is out now for PS5.
