Depending on where you live in the world, Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Wolverine should be available today!

Even if it’s a single-player game, Insomniac has still found the need to push out a Marvel’s Wolverine day-one update that will bring the game to version 1.004.

While we’re not expecting major changes to the core gameplay, we are hoping that this update does change a significant criticism that a lot of reviewers had issues with.

Marvel’s Wolverine Day-One Patch Adds Bearded Logan

So far, Insomniac Games hasn’t commented on today’s update download, but we do know of at least one thing that got added today, and that’s to give Logan a beard!

Content creator Caboose was able to confirm it today and even provided a comparison shot of the before and after:

We’re hoping that this update also applies changes to the “fart gas” thing that some reviewers have mentioned. If you’re unfamiliar with it, Marvel’s Wolverine features a “scent trail” for Logan to follow that points where he should go next…in a completely linear action game.

i don’t think you can turn off the Wolverine fart gas. this is after today’s update. i’m at the same spot where Skillup follows Jean Grey’s fart gas and you can see her fart gas in the background of the menu where those options are turned off, but Jean’s fart gas particles stay https://t.co/seHs52VNBY pic.twitter.com/WRdx0bjqkK

Naturally, this has sparked discourse on whether the game even needs this much hand-holding or if this is something Insomniac can “turn off” by default. It’s gotten so out of hand that even Insomniac Games’ Director of Community & Marketing had to comment on stating, “The scent trail isn’t always on. It represents Logan’s canon mutant super senses and elite tracking ability. It only is there when he’s tracking a specific scent / sound (a person, whisky, or another clue scent) – story/mission moments or when he catches whiff of a collectible.”

RELATED Marvel's Wolverine Suits and Claws Variants Leak While Marvel's Wolverine won't be out until September 15, it seems some people have managed to get their hands on the game early and have started sharing information about it.

At the time reviews went live, this wasn’t something you could turn off, though this patch might have enabled that.

Note that this scent trail is different from navigational assist that can be turned off in the accessibility options. For more info about it, check the video clip below.

I’ve seen way too many posts of people calling reviewers liars about Wolverine where they are turning on navigational assist to complain about the Scent Trail and lying to their viewers.

If Insomniac Games releases an actual changelog, we’ll update the article with the info.

RELATED Marvel's Wolverine Will Feature a Handful of Brief Sequences With "Exposed Buttocks" In Marvel's Spider-Man franchise, Insomniac Games didn't pull its punches when it came to depicting the webcrawler's ass-kicking abilities, though it refrained from showing blood or any graphical depiction of death and violence, which is understandable, given Spider-Man isn't really known to be a character that's bloodthirsty or very violent.
