As already teased in the last devlog, I worked on the dungeon's "economy" since then. Of course there aren't any trade routes or something like that. But there are two resource-based gameplay mechanics - decoration and card battles - and thus some kind of system is mandatory to let the player refill crafting material and cards.
We decided to spawn the needed items at random points in the levels, which means that exploration and revisiting will potentially be rewarded. The most useful find will be gold coins (dropped by careless adventurers) as you can ask several characters about selling crafting resources and combat cards to you. There's also trash that you'll be able to throw into trash cans and get a random resource or card in return. (You play a janitor after all.) Not to forget the dirt heaps, those will respawn too and give a bit of loot from time to time.
Adding this economy touches a lot of areas in the game, and some things are still a work in progress. For example, I already updated the UI of the decoration mode so you can see the resources you own to craft a chair or a barrel, but the inventory doesn't tell you yet which decoration needs which resources. And I already added new dialogue options to various NPCs for trading stuff. But the actual spawn points are still missing - we'll have to place them manually, so that will take some time. And so on.
Other than that, there are some new music tracks by Paul in the later game, and new character graphics are also worked on by Johannes.
Jana helped with the design decisions regarding the dungeon economy, but most of the time she was far more busy working on that super secret thing for the greater good of Mops & Mobs, which you might already know about if you follow us on our Discord server.

Hi. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been working on two cool things: creating life and destroying furniture! :D In my last post, I mentioned that I’m currently working on another level with lots of plants, and I think I’m almost done with it. It’s now overgrown with lots of flowers that look like sunflowers, but aren’t quite the same. These flowers have a funnel-shaped bloom designed to trap insects. There are also tons of thorny bushes in this level that haven’t been trimmed in a long, long time... mystery
The other thing I’ve been working on was modelling broken objects, because in the game you are able to destroy things. I’m really looking forward to that! I love breaking things in games. I’ll never forget the sound of broken barrels in “Dark Souls”... and the deaths.
Last but not least, our marketing guy Tom created two more videos for our YouTube channel:
